Steve grew up in Northern Ireland where he started helping at an outdoor activity centre aged 13. This experience shaped his passion into his career for the following 27 years.
He has been an outdoor instructor, college lecturer, programme manager, head of department, AALA inspector, and consultant. He has lived and worked in all three home nations of the UK and several centres abroad as well as being an AALA inspector in the South of England and RYA inspector in Scotland and the South West for some 8 years.
As a youth he competed in windsurfing at a national level and kayaking at European and world championships. In recent years had found a love of challenges and expeditions including rowing across the Atlantic Ocean, and several sea kayak expeditions.
He started coasteering in Pembrokeshire and has being guiding coasteering throughout the UK. He has been a representative for the National Coasteer Charter in Scotland for 3 years, working with other guides and business to share best practice and lessons learnt.

Steve has degrees in Applied Sports Science, Teaching and a range of qualifications in windsurfing, paddle sports, climbing, surf lifesaving and mountaineering.
