Jake grew up in west Cornwall, where he was introduced to outdoor activities at an early age.

After completing a degree in Outdoor Education, he began his career in Pembrokeshire before spending many years working as a freelance instructor across the UK for a wide range of centres and organisations. He later spent six years as the Chief Instructor for a leading activity provider in the Peak District. Today, alongside his work with Adventure RMS, he delivers instructor training, skills courses and guiding.

He holds qualifications in climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, canoeing and mountain biking, and is a Mountain Training course director for the Hill and Moorland Leader, Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor qualifications.

A keen climber and mountaineer, Jake is equally at home exploring the mountains by bike or the coastline by kayak. Recent highlights include sea kayaking around Pembrokeshire’s remarkable islands, mountain biking the Lord of the Loops in the Peak District, establishing new routes in the Adwa Mountains of northern Ethiopia, and mountaineering in the central Alaskan Range.
