LICENSING

The inspectorate for AALA and subject matter experts to the MoD

Adventure RMS provides inspection and subject matter expertise in relation to regulations, standards, and good practice for adventure activities.

We are appointed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as the inspectorate for the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), delivering statutory inspections under the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 2004.

We are appointed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as subject matter experts to the Defence Land Safety Regulator (DLSR). We support inspection of adventurous activity provision to serving personnel in the UK and across the world.

Our inspectorate work helps to ensure that effective risk management systems are in place so instructor-led activities can be undertaken without exposure to avoidable risks of serious injury or death.

Inspecting the standards of safety in outdoor adventure

Our nationwide team of inspectors, consultants and subject matter experts hold the highest-level nationally recognised qualifications across inspected activities.

Selected for their personal experience in the delivery and management of adventure activities to young people and adults in the UK and abroad, they draw on considerable personal and practical experience in the safety management of adventure activities and adventure training in the work they undertake on our behalf.

We also provide support for local authorities, the police and others in the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses which occur during instructor-led adventure activities.
