Our clients
Our clients span the full breadth of the adventure, education and leisure sectors. They include organisations delivering adventurous activities to hundreds of thousands of members, guests and customers each year. They operate across more than sixty countries and are supported by diverse networks of employed staff and volunteers.
We also have considerable experience of working with and supporting those who may oversee, regulate, support or investigate the provision of adventure activities. Often following fatal or serious incidents, near misses or complaints in both statutory and non-statutory contexts.
We work in the UK and abroad with:
- Providers of adventure activities (commercial, charitable and membership)
- Enforcement authorities (local authorities and the HSE)
- Activity associations, national bodies and training providers
- Schools, colleges, academies and wider education settings
Charities, clubs and multi-centre providers
Adventure providers are a diverse and passionate group. Many have developed bespoke systems to support the experiences they provide, within the context in which they provide them.
Consistent safety management across large and complex organisations can be challenging. Yet it is essential—not only for the safe delivery of activities, but in creating an environment where staff, volunteers, and participants feel confident, supported, and cared for.
To meet these challenges, we work closely with individuals across each organisation, both in person and via video conferencing. We review documentation, gather evidence from multiple sources, and observe activities in practice.
Our recommendations focus on enhancing the operational safety of activities. We provide reassurance for those involved in delivery and management, as well as those with legal and moral responsibility for the thousands of activity sessions delivered each year.
Enforcement authorities, constabularies and others
In the UK, enforcement typically sits with local authorities or the Health and Safety Executive—teams with broad remits who may not have specialist knowledge of adventure activity provision.
We provide impartial, sector‑specific expertise to support robust, informed investigations. We help clarify the unique characteristics of adventurous activities, including risk appetite, specialist equipment, environments and competencies.
Our consultants have contributed to investigations across a wide range of land and water‑based activities. We have worked alongside enforcement authorities, police constabularies, the coroner’s office, including cases involving single and multiple fatalities, life‑changing injuries and serious near misses.
Our involvement brings clarity, sector specific rigor and reassurance.
Schools, colleges, local education authorities & academy trusts
Across the UK and internationally, schools are increasingly recognising the value of adventurous outdoor experiences—not only as part of the curriculum, but as a vital contributor to pupils’ personal development, wellbeing, and social growth.
We have supported teachers, school leaders, local authorities, trusts, and governors in providing safe, enriching adventure programmes. Our work ensures that pupils benefit from stimulating experiences while staff are supported by the systems and guidance needed to manage risk effectively.
Our approach combines technical rigour with deep sector insight, ensuring that adventure in education is both inspiring and safe. Our work helps protect young people, gives staff confidence that robust systems are in place, and reassures managers and school leaders that their adventure provision is responsible and resilient.
